‘Exploring Agroforestry’ with LEAF

I’m excited to share the ‘Exploring Agroforestry Project’ that I’m involved with organised by LEAF with support from the Forestry Commission and Scottish Forestry with funding from The Linder Foundation.

Exploring Agroforestry Project – in a nutshell:

  • Project Duration: one year (March 24-25)
  • Eight farmers who want to explore agroforestry are recruited.
  • Farmers to visit existing agroforestry sites, a tree nursery and attend 2 practical workshops.
  • Farmers receive 1-1 support designing and planning their own agroforestry system.
  • The agroforestry system is assessed using a farm carbon calculator.
  • LEAF record the learnings, processes, and experiences of each farmer.

There are eight places available for farmers to be supported and equipped with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to pursue agroforestry on their farm. The selected farms will then go on to become practical examples of the challenges and solutions to implementing agroforestry, with the opportunity to join the LEAF Network and become a LEAF Demonstration Farm (LDF).

Selection Criteria:

  • Any size or enterprise(s)
  • Any ownership (tenanted / owned or mixed).
  • Interested in implementing agroforestry on their farm.
  • Willing to travel to in-person workshops and site visits in the UK.
  • Eager to share their experience with other farmers and wider LEAF network via social media and events.
